About the Classroom
The Care Bears are the youngest group of children at Friends Child Care Center with ages ranging from 3 months of age to approximately 12 months of age. Our main goal is to provide a safe environment for our young infants. Our children will be able to develop and learn through many curriculum activities including music, movement, art and literacy, etc. Our group size is 12 infants with 4 teachers, giving a ratio of 3:1. We use a primary care system, assigning one teacher to 3 children, observing and taking notes on their children’s development throughout their stay in the Care Bear room.

My name is Erica Mason. I have been employed by Friends Child Care Center for over fifteen years. I started out volunteering and eventually worked my way up to a full time employee. I am currently the lead teacher in the younger infant room (Care Bears). I have two sons, who are graduates of FCCC. Being a teacher and a parent has given me many experiences. I have my Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the Community College of Philadelphia.

Hello, my name is Brenda Charity and I started working here at Friends Child Care Center in April 2018. I am currently in the Care Bears classroom as a teacher assistant. I have three children, who are all big kids now, ages 15, 14, and 13. I love babies and toddlers, which led me to attend College Community College of Philadelphia for a degree in Early Childhood Education. I currently have my associate degree in early childhood, and plan on going back for my bachelor degree. I am so excited to have the opportunity to do something I love and enjoy.
